Myles Sharp is a founding member of Sharp, Dummer & Briggs, PLLC. Myles completed law school at the University of Mississippi in 2002, and began practicing with Daniel, Coker, Horton & Bell in their Gulfport, MS office. After also working for Owen & Galloway, Myles was a founding member of Hewitt & Sharp, PLLC, a practice focused on insurance defense litigation, and that firm eventually became Sharp Law Firm, PLLC after the retirement of his partner. Myles also serves as the vice president of the Gulfport City Council, which is the second largest city in the state of Mississippi, where he is a lifelong resident. With a shared goal of diversifying their respective practices in order to serve a broader base of clients, Myles Sharp and longtime friend Stephen Dummer formed Sharp, Dummer & Briggs, PLLC. Founding Member and Managing Partner Stephen Dummer came to Gulfport in 2005, as an associate of the well regarded firm Allen, Vaughn, Cobb & Hood, a firm with roots dating as far back as 1954. Stephen became a partner of Allen, Cobb & Hood, P.A. in 2010. After next serving as a partner with a large regional New Orleans firm, Mr. Dummer founded DLS, PLLC. Mr. Dummer then formed Sharp, Dummer & Briggs, PLLC, with longtime friend and associate Myles Sharp. Founding member Myles E. Sharp is a native of South Mississippi, who serves as Councilman for Ward 5 for the City of Gulfport. Before forming the law firm of Sharp, Dummer & Briggs, PLLC, Myles was the managing partner of the Sharp Law Firm, PLLC, and a partner at the law firm of Hewitt and Sharp, PLLC. Myles is a Member of the Gulf Coast Chamber of Commerce and a Member at the St. James Catholic Church. Founding Member Robert Briggs came to the Gulf Coast in 2000 and worked for several large regional firms. In 2009 Bob was appointed by the Mississippi Supreme Court to serve as a temporary chancellor for Jackson, George and Greene Counties pending a permanent replacement for Judge Pierce. Bob was an attorney at the firm of Carr Allison, PLLC, before joining the Sharp Law Firm.
Capitalizing on the diverse skill sets and professional experience of its members, the firm developed a broad, full-service litigation practice encompassing insurance defense, maritime law, industrial development, governmental and regulatory law, banking, gaming law, municipal law, international law, family law, estate planning and complex commercial litigation.
